FRONT COVER
For this project, I was tasked with selecting a favorite album of mine and redesigning it, incorporating a photographic element from a previous step of the assignment. I selected the album Charm by Clairo and tried to emphasize the tranquil nature of the songs through my manipulation of the photos and colors.
The rocks on the front cover are from my own collection of trinkets, edited to blend in with the other photos and textures as a part of the assignment.
BACK COVER
For my back cover, I embraced the organic, flowing nature of the chosen images, arranging the track listing in a spiral shape and including small star elements between songs to carry over the same motif from the front cover title and record sticker.
My chosen typefaces, Antipol VF and Bodoni 72, helped emphasize the whimsical, earthy feel of the redesign's concept.
PROCESS
I decided to pursue the concept on the top for my final version, since I thought the magical/watery design still complimented the themes of the album but avoided going the obvious route of green and forest-like.
Before landing on my final composition above, this was one of my more refined drafts in the process. Between this iteration and the final, I made small changes to the arrangement of certain elements, such as the position of the MO Press logo, the addition of copyright text and a barcode sticker on the back, and the saturation.
